You must apply to Pellissippi State Community College to participate in the Volunteer Bridge Program. There is no application fee.
APPLY FOR ADMISSION AT PSCC
If you have NOT taken any dual enrollment credit – or – completed dual enrollment at PSCC,
If you have previous dual enrollment credit from another college (not PSCC),
Be sure to have a current high school transcript sent directly to PSCC. After graduation, please request a final high school transcript be sent to both PSCC and UT. Also, be sure that any college transcripts (for dual enrollment credit) are sent directly to PSCC. UT cannot share transcripts with PSCC. If you have questions about the application process, contact PSCC at 865-694-6400.
If you haven’t done so already, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov to receive any form of financial aid, including grants, scholarships, or loans.
COMPLETE YOUR FAFSA
You must complete the 2017-18 FAFSA for your summer 2018 courses by April 20. Complete the 2018–198 FAFSA for fall 2018 and spring 2019 by July 2. List Pellissippi State Community College as your first school choice (code 012693). You do not need to list UT since PSCC will be managing your financial aid during the Volunteer Bridge Program.
Make sure your TN Promise Scholarship and TN HOPE Lottery Scholarship are sent to PSCC. If you have any questions, contact the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) at 1-800-342-1663.
Submit your immunizations records to UT prior to attending orientation to avoid holds placed on your account.
SUBMIT IMMUNIZATION FORMS BEFORE ORIENTATION
Visit tiny.utk.edu/immunization for UT’s immunization forms.
Immunization records do not need to be submitted to PSCC. However, any student under 18 must submit an Immunization Waiver form to PSCC.
All Volunteer Bridge students are strongly encouraged to live on campus, where you will live in the same residence hall and share common academic experiences with others in the program as part of a Living & Learning Community.
CONFIRM HOUSING BY MAY 8
After confirming your enrollment, monitor your UT email account for information from University Housing. This will include details on housing and commuter forms, which you must complete by May 8 for both summer and fall/spring (2 applications). Log on to My UT Housing to complete your forms as soon as possible, as on-campus housing is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Orientation is the beginning of your journey as a Volunteer. This exciting two-day experience is designed to let you get to know your Volunteer Bridge classmates and give you all the details you need to thrive at UT and PSCC.

INVOLVEMENT & LEADERSHIP
Learn about the campus resources, clubs, and organizations you can join to connect to your Volunteer family.
Meet key administration, staff, faculty, and students from both UT and PSCC and ask them all your questions.
REGISTER FOR ORIENTATION
If you plan to live on campus both summer and fall/spring semesters, you should attend the July 12-13 session. Note: if you move into your residence hall for the summer semester, you will keep the same room for the fall/ spring semesters.
Visit https://webapps.utk.edu/StudentOrientation/Register/ to register. The orientation fee is $200 for students and $50 for family or guest attendees. The fee covers accommodation costs for the duration of the session. Early arrival accommodations are available at an extra cost; contact the Office of New Student and Family Programs for details.
You do not need to sign-up for new student orientation through PSCC. You only need to sign-up for orientation through UT. If you receive a notification to sign-up for orientation directly with PSCC, please ignore it. Volunteer Bridge orientation is a special session which combines both schools.
UPLOAD A STUDENT ID PHOTO
Before orientation, upload your own photo for your UT student ID (VolCard). Visit volcard.utk.edu for instructions.
If you live locally or can travel to Knoxville, please plan to meet with a PSCC advisor and register for classes at PSCC prior to orientation. Please contact PSCC at 865-694-6400 to schedule an appointment.
Volunteer Bridge students starting in the summer will be manually registered for their PSCC courses sometime in May/June. All summer Volunteer Bridge students take College Success (COLL 1500) and Critical Thinking (PHIL 1300). You must be registered for new student orientation in order to be placed into summer courses.
If you are not able to be advised and register for classes prior to orientation, you will meet with an advisor and register for classes at orientation.
